And for the younger generation, will you ever be able to forget the attacks on America on Sept. 11th, 2001.

People who study history are known as historians. These people use any means possible to study past recorded events. Ways of doing this are by studying written documents, film footage, eyewitness accounts, photographs, and physical evidence. Prehistory is the period of time that existed before written documents existed. Many historians believe that recorded history started in the 34th century BC with when people started on clay tablets. This is known as cuneiform writing.

History consists of many different fields including genealogy (family history), archeology (human cultures), and paleography (handwriting). History is also studied by time periods, from the earliest to the latest (present). This is commonly known as chronology. Some historians are specialists in one historical field as that’s all they study.

In fact, history covers such a broad range, that you can basically study the history of anything. Everything in the world, in the universe actually had to start somewhere and because of this everything has a history. The historical value to each individual generally depends on their interests. Many people are interested in the history a variety of activities and items. Some of these include the history of:

You can also study history by viewing films, and photographs, and by reading history books. The internet also has a wealth of historical information on it. There are also many history courses available at educational facilities around the world. While there are some history-related jobs available, many people like to study history, for the knowledge it provides them with.

Most people regard history as events that occurred many years ago. However, you must remember important events that take place today will be a part of history for present and all future generations.
